Math update with Mrs. Neal

Hello all!
We wrapped up our work with the properties of multiplication. We are now moving on to area, including finding area of complex figures. The homework for this week will be as follows:

3rd grade:
Monday- IXL FF.14
Tuesday- No Homework- MATH NIGHT!
Wednesday- Practice test, evens
Thursday- Practice math facts

Mrs. Luyt update 1/22-1/25/18

Reading: This last week we reviewed commonly confused words such as their, there, and they're and to, too, and two. Students took a spelling test on 1/25/18 and I sent home the results on Thursday. This week, we will introduce text features in non-fiction reading. We will introduce new spelling and vocabulary words for a spelling test on 2/8/18.   Latin/Greek test on Thursday 2/2/18.

Writing: We continue to practice cursive everyday. This last week, we finished up final drafts and craft for the narrative on "How I Got Stuck in a Snow Globe." This week students will write a narrative on a Valentine's Day Mystery as an assessment. 

Grammar: This last week, we continued our review on singular and plural possessive nouns. We had an assessment on Wednesday. This week, students will learn about subject/verb agreement in sentences.

Projects: Last week we will finished up the slide shows and began hands on projects. This next week, students will practice their presentations before presenting to the 2nd grade classes.

Latin/Greek test on Thursday!

Homework: Read 20 minutes everyday and study for test.

Reading: This last week we reviewed commonly confused words such as their, there, and they're and to, too, and two. This week, we will continue to  review commonly confused words. Spelling test on Thursday 1/25/18.

Writing: We continue to practice cursive everyday. We worked on finishing up our rough drafts, have peer conferencing, and revisions of our drafts of "How I Got Stuck in a Snow Globe." This week we will write our final paper and do a craft to go along with our writing.

Grammar: This last week, we began learning about singular and plural possessive nouns. We will continue this lesson this week. We will have an assessment on Wednesday, 1/24/18.

Projects: Last week we began researching extreme weather and put together a slide show with groups. This week, we will finish up the slide shows and begin hands on projects.

Last week in math we work on multiplying a single digit by a multiple of ten. We will be moving on to the properties of multiplication this week. The homework will be as follows:

Mrs. Luyt Update 1/8-1/11/18

Reading: This last week we reviewed context clues and found the evidence within the text to support their answers. This week we are reviewing commonly confused words such as their, there, and they're and to, too, and two. We will be doing several activities to help the students understand when to use each form of the words. 

Writing: We continue to practice cursive everyday. We started brainstorming and writing our beginning, middle, and end of our rough drafts for our next narratives, "How I Got Stuck in a Snow Globe." This week we will be finishing up our rough drafts, have peer conferencing, and revisions of our drafts. 

Grammar: This last week, we began learning about singular and plural possessive nouns. We will continue this lesson this week.

Projects: Last week we began our project on extreme weather. Students looked at several different types of extreme weather and narrowed what ones they would like to focus on in a small group. This week, students will begin researching their extreme weather and put together a slide show with their group.
