Mrs. Luyt Update 1/8-1/11/18

Reading: This last week we reviewed context clues and found the evidence within the text to support their answers. This week we are reviewing commonly confused words such as their, there, and they're and to, too, and two. We will be doing several activities to help the students understand when to use each form of the words.

Writing: We continue to practice cursive everyday. We started brainstorming and writing our beginning, middle, and end of our rough drafts for our next narratives, "How I Got Stuck in a Snow Globe." This week we will be finishing up our rough drafts, have peer conferencing, and revisions of our drafts.

Grammar: This last week, we began learning about singular and plural possessive nouns. We will continue this lesson this week.

Projects: Last week we began our project on extreme weather. Students looked at several different types of extreme weather and narrowed what ones they would like to focus on in a small group. This week, students will begin researching their extreme weather and put together a slide show with their group.

Latin and Greek test on Thursday!

Homework: Read 20 minutes everyday and study for test.
