Reading: This week we compared and contrasted two books by the same author: Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type and Giggle, Giggle, Quack. Next week, we will be comparing and contrasting two books on the same topic, The Gingerbread Boy and The Gingerbread Girl.
Writing: We continue to practice cursive everyday. This finished our rough drafts, edited and revised them and wrote our final draft. Next week, we will be 'applying' for a job at Santa's North Pole. We will discuss what character traits are needed for each available job. Students will then write a letter to Santa explaining why they should get the job. Next, we will write a narrative on an adventure they have on the 'job.'
Grammar: This week, we wrote friendly letters to a classmate to continue practicing our format of letters and addressing envelopes. Next week, we will work on writing a reply to our pen pal.
Projects: This week we finished with their "51st state." Next week, students will be presenting the state projects.
Homework: Read 20 minutes everyday.
